Rollin' Like Sisyphus

State Of The World — 7.19.2010 Edition

So, we be doin’ about like always, with a Monday that is hell bent upon the obliteration of my soul, slow roasted over an open flame, cooked medium to well.
Nice and chewy, just how they like it.
So, how’s your week shaping up?
We had to purchase an air conditioning unit this weekend, because the new digs didn’t have anything in that regard, and thanks to the wonder that is turn of the century (20th century) windows, plaster and insulation, the house is essentially an overgrown Easy Bake Oven when the mercury rises along with the humidity. And you would think that Day Three of a ongoing humid heat wave (I keep stressing “humid” because Southern Californians cannot deal with it at all. 120 degrees in dry weather? Sure. 95 with a rising barometer? Fuck you, we’re all gonna die.) would be the worst time to purchase an A/C, but we had no problem. Headed out first thing to the local Best Buy and got it no problem. Spent Saturday morning putting it in and it has been great ever since.
Of course, I am a little concerned about my inability to no longer “toughen up” and deal with adverse conditions like heat, cold, hang nails and pretty much every thing else. Like some like to describe me as, I’m the oldest 33 year old you are ever likely to encounter.
Anyhow.
The Bill That Keeps Right On Givin’ does its thing by keeping the fatties in line, and in these troubled times, that is vitally necessary. Of course, too, the less well publicized sub clause of the bill requires the tracking of all private gold and silver purchases as well. In a Health Reform bill. Seems to me that this is somehow eerily familiar. Must just be my imagination workin’ its tricks. Oh, wait a minute
And, of course, the discussions on Game continue unabated, with both sides kind of missing the point, buts fun to watch the flailing by everyone involved.
Eh, guess that’s all I’ve got for now.

I always wondered what it would have been like when the iron curtain came down. I still don’t know, I guess, but there seems to be one forming here.
