Court Upholds CA Right To ‘Bear Arms’

In a soon-to-be discovered penumbra, the Court finds a right to the arms of bears, not that icky thing where you plebes get to carry scary guns around.

So a three-justice panel of the federal court with jurisdiction of the western territories finds that a California county’s onerous qualifications for the issuance of a CCW permit goes against the spirit of the second amendment, ruling that citizens have a right to self-defense beyond the “four walls” of one’s home. In a nutshell, the ruling finds that a jurisdiction cannot restrict a citizen of good moral character* who is not disqualified** from owning a firearm by existing law*** from either carrying a firearm openly or concealed (a jurisdiction can restrict one, but not both).
Great news, right?
I’m skeptical.
First, I still know my local sheriffs well enough to know that some other obfuscation of the parameters of the law will be used to stifle my rights, as the officials in this state always do. For example, I have a CCW, issued by Orange County – the only county in Southern California that is actually shall-issue, and that CCW is reciprocated by 19 other states, but becomes null and void when I cross into several counties within the state itself, include my home county of Los Angeles.
I can legally carry concealed from the Colorado river straight through to the Atlantic Ocean, but the two counties that stretch from there to the Pacific Ocean preclude me from using that CCW issued in the name of California therein.
So forgive me if I don’t hold my breath on the success of this.
Besides, the strategy now seems to be going after the bullets, and making the manufacture of firearms too unprofitable for California markets, so it’ll all just work itself out naturally.

*Soon to be defined as only those who think guns are evil
**Felons, mentally ill, gun owners
***The Law is a human institution, full of Fail

How many arms does a bear have if you call the front leg an arm?

Since journalists don’t do math, we may never know.
