Monty Python’s Black Knight Approach To Foreign Policy

The Black Knight never loses...

The Black Knight never loses…

When you’ve spent your entire life as an affirmative action token, from your earliest days of college through, er, a Constitutional Law professorship, it’s easy to regard the world in the simplistic way that half-wit academics in the Poli Sci faculty lounge are known for discussing.
Which is to say that a President should just be able to talk tough in the face of foreign aggression.
For weeks, Our Affirmative Action President has insisted begged Putin to back down and take any one of the 12,486 diplomatic “off-ramps” that the West has kindly offered, so that both sides could save face.
Tired of seeing this course of action fail, the O-Force attempts to bring the hammer:

Obama called on Putin to start talks with the new Ukrainian government. Russia needs “to move back those troops and to begin negotiations directly with the Ukrainian government, as well as the international community.”

Hey now, no need to get crazy.
Stay cool.
Surely, you have something wicked scary to back that brand of tough talk up.
Right?

Obama did not tell CBS News what the U.S. would specifically do if Russia did push further into Ukraine, but did say that they would face more economic sanctions.

Well, fiddlesticks.
Barack “The Crimean Shock” then goes full Mean Girls with some juicy gossip about why Putin doesn’t get to ride with the cool girls:

Obama hinted that Putin might be holding grievances “about what he considers to be the loss of the Soviet Union.” “There’s a strong sense of Russian nationalism and a sense that somehow the West has taken advantage of Russia in the past and that he wants to, in some fashion, reverse that or make up for that,” Obama said. Obama stated that Putin “may be entirely misreading the West.”

That Putin is such a bitch.

For full effect, here is the scene in full.
Purely for academic comparison:

It’s a Mr. Death or something. He’s come about the reaping?
