Small Pleasures Found In The Decline & Fall

One man's nightmare is another man's dream...

One man’s nightmare is another man’s dream…

So far, the mitigation or outright elimination of useless bureaucracy will top my list of Silver Linings when The End finally, mercifully snuffs it all out.
In case you’re wondering, a “quick trip” downtown to handle a billing dispute with a municipal agency has turned into the most epic of flusterclucks that I’ve ever had the displeasure of enduring.
Four hours of waiting, incompetency, threats, more waiting, more threats, more waiting, a lunch break, more waiting, more incompetence, and now it’s time to head to work to squeeze three productive hours out of my day.
This is what killed it.
Carve that into the belly of the earth, and let it stand as the epitaph for our time here.

You think you’ve got it bad.

    It could be worse.

At least you didn’t have to wait 23 years to get the right diagnosis and treatment for end stage heart failure. Thankfully I am a patient bastard. Sure, they give me 100%. But I think they only thought it would be for a few years. See, they do try to save you money, if it doesn’t always work out.
