A Berg In The Dahl Is Worth Two In The W-Bush

Nothin' but net.

Nothin’ but net.

You know times are tough for my erstwhile foe, Our Simple Affirmative Action President, Barack “Nothin’ Left To Mock” Obama when every single move he makes is turning from one pie in the face to another, then another, and so on all the way through his second term. The press keeps trying to talk about his “legacy” because that’s what they usually talk about at this stage in the second terms of previous presidents, but let’s be honest – the O-Force’s legacy is already cemented into place. While a select group of “historians” will feel compelled to tread carefully around his manifold and abject failures on every level, that group’s numbers will dwindle with time; once removed by about a generation, Our Simple Affirmative Action President will be remembered as unaccountable dictator and incompetent jughead in equal measure and without contradiction.
He will be remembered as the kind of president who, trying to escape a controversy surrounding the poor care of military veterans, steps on a PR landmine by “securing” the release of the only US captive held by the Taliban, exchanging five terrorist operatives for a soldier who, it turns out, deserted his post and sought out his captors, taught them how to better rig roadside explosives, and whose disappearance got 14 other soldiers killed while searching for him.
That Our Simple Affirmative Action President imagined the attempt to assuage angry military veterans with the rescue of deserter-at-best and traitor-at-worst would be met with “euphoria” should place much of the past five years into stark relief even for the bitter clingers to his peculiar brand of Hope.
I for one can’t wait to see what type of legacy the historians of tomorrow ascribe, even though I have a feeling that the judgment of history will be a much lesser concern for all and sundry by then. You know, what with the New Dark Ages and all.

As people adjust, and become familiar, with the new and if harder also simpler life, more so the generations who are born to it, Zero will be a funny story. He will be a literal king with no clothes story, told and retold and laughed about at gatherings, and at night to children. The King With No Clothes Who Could Not Shoot Straight, perhaps, is what it might more officiously be known as.

He didn’t cause the decline, he just cemented it, sped it up. A puppet, as it will turn out, and not a very good one even so. I have to wonder how many of his handlers are busy trying to cut those strings as fast as they can so that there is nothing leading back to them, face palming, double face palming even. But those strings are so strong… The rats can’t jump ship, the sharks are waiting.

I can’t see how this happens. Nobody says, “but Mr. President, this guy deserted and got a dozen guys killed:”? I know he’s out of touch. I guess his entire staff down a couple levels must be too. Or perhaps even they want to watch him step on a rake.
