Good Music Friday

Posted in Good Music Friday by Huckleberry on November 14, 2014

A dismal end to an overall shitty week ‘round these parts. It’s finally “raining”, and by “raining” I mean its misting pretty fierce – a hairdo or two WILL be slightly mussed in the Southland today, believe you me.
If I seem a little more dour than usual, I apologize. I had to put down one of my dogs a couple of days ago, and he was one of the rare great ones. Easy to train, obedient, a natural guard dog and the nieces and nephew loved him terribly. He was simply a perfect pet all around without any of the headaches.
It’s tough losing that as quickly and suddenly as it happened, but that’s basically what living is any way you slice it.
It was an interesting week that was in the world, with news that an aloha shirt is all it takes to make the femos rage in the Pavlovian way we’ve grown to know and loathe; the Islamists have launched a gold-backed currency for which their conscripts citizens may pay off parking fines and purchase wives from the flock of conquered hostages; and it’s worth noting that flashpoint-style violence is occurring with frightening frequency both far and wide.

Huck’s Bacon Tatter Bombs

This is a simple, good appetizer that goes great with any kind of meat, but especially steaks or pork. Hell, I like ‘em all by their lonesome, chased with a cold beer, but I’ve always been a bit of a misanthrope like that. Quantities depend solely on how many you’re trying to feed.

Shredded cheddar cheese
Chopped bacon slices
Lawry’s seasoning salt

Start an indirect fire on your grill, shooting for about 325 degrees.
Carefully hallow out the inside of each potato with an apple corer or a small spoon. Save the potato plug you remove to get inside.
Place the potato guts into a mixing bowl, and mix in the shredded cheese, bacon pieces and lightly dust everything with the Lawry’s. Stuff each potato with this mix, plug the hole with the cap, and set on the grill to cook for about 25 to 35 minutes, depending on the size and number of potatoes.

    Huck sure loves his bacon.

I’m ashamed to admit I never knew the name of that song…

Of course, no one will ever forget the name of this one.
