Rollin' Like Sisyphus

Good Music Friday

Posted in Good Music Friday by Huckleberry on December 12, 2014

It’s raining here again, which means everything turns to mud, the sewers all back up, and the world smells like a hobo’s crotch.
The weekend this time can’t come a moment too soon, but good lord we’re too far into December already, when I’ve barely prepared myself for the Fourth of July.
What the Hell am I going to do with all these fireworks?
So any of y’all who had 6 weeks in the GOP Constituency Backstabbing Pool, congrats.
You won.
I know it’s clear to everyone here, but for some stupid reason normal people keep seeing this vast gulf between the Ds and the Rs when they are really just standing inches apart. The only political conflict that is genuine in the current paradigm is the one between the “Establishment” and the “Fringe” – everything else is just theater for the benefit of donors, lobbyists and the 24-hour news cycle.
And all that means is Drinkin’ Time is coming early this weekend.
Have a good one, and get ‘em in.

Tex’s Stew

5 lbs of bone-in beef (any cut)
1 cup diced onions
8 cups beef broth
4 stalks of diced celery
4 cups diced potatoes
4 sliced carrots
2 bottles of dark beer

Sauté the onions in a frying pan, season your cuts of beef, then sear them nice and tight in the same frying pan.
Empty the frying pan into a stew pot, add the broth and beer, then cook slow for at least 6 hours.
Probably more like 7. Beef should be falling off the bone.
When the beef is done, add the veggies and potatoes, then let them simmer 30 mins or so.
Remove the bones from the beef as best you can, then serve.
Goes great with fresh cornbread.
