Rollin' Like Sisyphus

Game On

"Islam" is just another word for "submission"...

“Islam” is just another word for “submission”…

So all that time we tried to fight them over there so we wouldn’t need to fight them over here was money and blood well spent:

A tense, 16-hour Australian hostage standoff ended with an eruption of gunfire and death when heavily armed police stormed a cafe in the heart of Sydney’s financial center. New South Wales state police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said the gunman and two hostages died in the fiery end to the crisis. Scipione, speaking at a press conference early Tuesday Australian time, said four of the 17 hostages and one police officer were injured.

One of the little-noted but ultimately important aspects to a douring social mood is that many who exist teetering on the edge between Participant and Outlaw in the civic order tend to lean Outlaw in much greater numbers than pure chance would predict. This then of course leads to further douring, and further tide-turning, and so on and so on.
So we have a “friendly immigrant” from a non-friendly culture who, facing a host of serious charges for an array of anti-social behavior, turned Full Muslim and revealed how ripe for the picking are the terror spoils in soft targets such as coffee shops, shopping malls, parades, fairs, festivals, etc., by those who get off on such things.
But despite forcing hostages to hold up a banner that reads in Arabic that Allah is the one true god, we are assured that this isn’t a case of Muslim terror, but rather a case of a lone nut going crazy, as if the latter somehow precludes the former:

“This was an isolated incident,” New South Wales state police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said. “This should never destroy or change the way of our life.” … “This is a one-off random individual. It’s not a concerted terrorism event or act. It’s a damaged goods individual who’s done something outrageous,” his former lawyer, Manny Conditsis, told the state news agency Australian Broadcasting Corp.

I can’t speak for y’all, but I certainly feel better now.
Seriously, though, keep your head on a swivel out there, especially right now. All signs point to more of this sooner rather than later, and the best response is an armed one. That a single man with a handgun could successfully hold and control 17+ hostages for 17 hours is as much an indictment of the hostages as it is of the situation. The surest way to help prevent future incidents is swift counter-action to prevent being taken hostage in the first place.
To go down fighting, even in vain, is a much better thought than the idea of living with the knowledge that the image of me hoisting a Muslim flag at the point of a gun like a coward was beamed to every corner of the globe.
Your government isn’t going to fight for you, and protecting you is at best a tertiary concern, far below themselves and their jobs as de facto revenue agents. Your life is a cherished prize only to you; in a way that will soon be sickeningly obvious, that life is only a statistic to the Protect and Serve crowd.
Your life belongs to you alone. No one else is responsible for preserving or protecting it.
Act accordingly.

Speaking of gunpoint, El B today bought himself a Springfield XD(m) in 45 ACP, four magazines in various sizes, a left-handed custom holster, and some other goodies for a handful of pictures of Ben Franklin. Because opportunity. And because I don’t look good on YouTube.

Excellent choice. I love my X D, also in .45 ACP. Nary a jam in the past 8 years, and it’s beautifully accurate.

I was looking at getting another 1911-A1, but this purchase solves 2 problems: I now have a concealable 45, and I still need another 1911. 😉

Second the notion. I love my xd .45. Further, while a 1911-anything isn’t in my list… even so, I love the dilemma of buying a gun in such a way that another gun is added to the list somehow. Some problems are better than others.

As to fighting over there to keep it from coming here… the only problem with that is when we import the enemy we are trying to fight only over there. One isn’t a problem, if I suggest the other is under any circumstances. Add them together and the problem is being not only, at least, created, it is being inflamed. Best to choose whether to import and contain, or fight. Choosing both is absolutely untenable.

Nice work, El Borak. I haven’t found a handgun I love, yet. I’ll keep looking.
