Rollin' Like Sisyphus

John Ellis Bush, of Midland, Texas, Has An Idea

Posted in The Fail Pail by Huckleberry on December 16, 2014
Who's ready for another Presidential Election?

Who’s ready for another helpin’ of Bush?

He wants to run himself for President of the United States of America, and he wants your help to do it:

We shared good food and watched a whole lot of football. We also talked about the future of our nation. As a result of these conversations and thoughtful consideration of the kind of strong leadership I think America needs, I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States.

It’s worthy of note that for all their prognostic prowess, the Founders didn’t anticipate the political dynasties that would, in hindsight, inevitably arise from the structure of the representative republic that they devised, and yet here we are; keep in mind that 2013 to 2016 is the only gap in my living memory where a Bush or a Clinton did not serve in the White House in some constitutionally mandated capacity.
I’m 37 years old, for fuck’s sake.
To be fair, though, my worst nightmare with the Bush family was the haunting premonition that Bush 41 would take another stab at it, hoping the newly minted Mexican underclass would read the lips that Americans refused to last time around, so I should be thankful that’s off the table.
Does Jeb stand a chance in Hell?
But I said that the about the last Bush, too, so who the Hell knows. The Would-Be Bush 45 must somehow surmount the conservative base he openly loathes to win the primary, then hope to Hades he doesn’t alienate them too badly so that they vote his way come the general election. That’s the kind of thing that could only happen in pre-Internet politicking, but then there’s the very outside chance that the Bushes have the whole Goddamn thing rigged and this is just theater.
On the bright side, would you rather have three Bushes or a Mitt Romney running three times?
Don’t answer that.

Bad as a third Bush would be, it pales in the face of a second Clinton. I will become a fucking hermit.

I will be shocked if Clinton makes it onto the General Election ballot.
I still don’t think she runs, or runs very far, and if she does I think she gets beaten out in the primaries again, because she’s only inevitable when running unopposed.
But if she does win, fuck it, I’m out.
