A Trip Through The Old World, One Agonizing Infection At A Time

Shot in the dark…

The most infectious aspect of the current hulabaloo about vaccinated versus unvaccinated children puffing up in the local and national media has nothing to do with viruses or illness of any kind – it’s the sick, infantile displays of moral panic among well-heeled soccer moms against other well-heeled soccer moms who choose not to get little Chasen and Pollen vaccinated because their still in touch with their inner bohemian.
Or something.
All the while, the real reason why we’re seeing Old World diseases like measles, mumps, pox both small and chicken, tuberculosis, polio, typhoid (typhoid?!?) and a host of others with names no longer in living memory is safely ignored – tens of thousands of DREAMers, some as old as 35, streaming through the southern border unchecked and allowed to kick off their shoes and stay awhile. But no, let’s not ever mention the cause of the problem, let’s just go on and on about the utter temerity of upper-middle class helicopter mothers to forego a 49-dose schedule of at least 14 different vaccines by the age of 5 because how dare anyone defy the government.
I mean, c’mon, immigrants are just here for a better life – they would never do something as pernicious as spread diseases that are common epidemics in their home countries. That’s just poppy cock.
Now those goddamn anti-vaxxers, well, of course they’re responsible.
Anyway, all of this is beyond silly, and until any of these self-appointed moral panic generators mentions the actual cause of the problem, they should be ignored.
You know, until they help make it illegal to opt out of any vaccine schedule, and they allow anti-vaxx parents to be sued even though the makers of vaccines remain immune (puntastic) to litigation of any type.
I don’t really have a dog in the hunt. While I don’t know if the increased vaccine schedule triggers the assortment of issues that anti-vaxxers suggest, I’m prone to believe them over the government on the issue, if only for the fact that every vaccine I’ve ever had has made me terribly ill, including flu shots. And that was in the 70s when there were only a handful spread out through the first 10 years of childhood.
Good Lord.
And I don’t even have to tell you what the term “herd immunity” implies in these matters, do I?
All’s fair in stupidity and posturing…

Through the bush, off the rock, nothing but mush.

    Hollowpoints and Huckleberry. 🙂

I always love when Soccer moms say ‘herd immunity’ right away. It saves me a lot of listening* time, to be sure.

    * or time spent no longer listening, to be precise

Not to mention that there is increasing rates of vaccination failure, from what I understand.

Or “are.” Proper grammar rates are failing, as well. Sorry, I shouldn’t form sentences pre-coffee.
