Good Music Friday

Some sluts deserve to be shamed.

Some sluts deserve to be shamed.

Picture if you will an Old Fashion glass. It has a heavy, sturdy base that feels good in the hand. It is in no way ornate or opaque. Filled to just a hair beneath the halfway point with a deep amber distillate, a fluid so clear and rich and full it serves as one of the few points-of-fact illustrating God’s own mercy for a sick and fallen world.
This mental picture also happens to be the only sainted thing getting me through this miserable, risible day. I can’t speak to the mental composure of people in other parts of Western civilization, but in this little slice of Earth-bound Hell, people are simply losing their ever-loving minds. Even more so than usual. Not sure if it was the dude who tried to run down a group of kids crossing the street to get to school, the woman who freaked out at a black guy sitting quietly on the train or the whispers that our local police are thumbing the stats that should show a drastic rise in the rates of crime of all classes in the past 18 months but aren’t.
So I drink.
Hope your Friday’s been a bit better than mine, and by default it’d almost have to be.
In the wider world, I note that “great” unemployment numbers still feature all of the horrible harbingers of a labor force in near-permanent decline. The fudged numbers tell a story of “explosive” job growth while more people somehow continue to fall out the bottom of the labor force entirely, while many of those new jobs continue to go to people as part-time jobs. So you tell me which is the stronger workforce, 10 people with 10 full-time jobs or 10 people with 20 part-time jobs?
A white female sociologist uses the full weight of her privilege to either participate in a conspiracy plot to commit murder or a conspiracy plot to commit academic fraud – the jury’s still out on deciding which is which. One thing is fact, though – she could easily have committed both, but there is no way for both claims to be false.
And it’s National Donut Day, so I guess that’s something, but judging by the obesity epidemic and the ridiculously busy donut shops around here at all hours of the day and night, I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that every day here is donut day. But it reminds me of spending 10 days in Hawaii and noticing that there wasn’t a proper donut shop anywhere to be found. It just about drove me insane, knowing I couldn’t get a donut even though I didn’t especially want one. Oh, and the $31 I spent at Jack In The Box for 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 drinks.
That’s a goddamn crime.
Have a great weekend and get ‘em in.

I see we have been promoted to Rain of Toads, which is totally sweet*. I’ll be checking the Weather Channel hourly.

But I’m curious, how many transabled does it take to make a Roman Holiday?

    * though not as sweet as Reign of Toads, I’ll bet.
