Rollin' Like Sisyphus

Good Music Friday

Yeah.
As I write this, over my shoulder, CNN is showing its reporters ripping off the plywood boards from the home of the Misunderstood Don’t Call Them Terrorists and traipse about a fresh, open crime scene. On top of that, the third shooter – the male that I’m pretty certain was the one blowin’ up the joint with Syed “American Dream” Farook – has been Officially Disappeared down the memory hole. And since he was in custody at the time, that’s a neat trick.
Alas.
“Right-thinking” people would like you to know that, gosh darnit, IT’S THE GUNS, so BAN SOMETHING already, because the time for SENSIBLE GUN CONTROL is NOW.
As tired as the godless are becoming of the thoughts and prayers of the sincere, I’m motherfucking tired of the kneejerk toddler’s tantrum we have to endure every time the real world – the actual real world where evil exists as more than wistful allegory – smacks them in the face it’s just BAN THE GUNS and never a thought to the fact that even if a ban would work, Syed “The American Dream” Farook had dozens of motherfucking bombs ready to go. He was always going to do this, and it was always going to a high-casualty tragedy. Worthy of note, as well, that they never kneejerk in the opposite direction, that if we had fewer Syed Farooks here, importing war brides in pursuit of their American Dreams, maybe we’d have a lot fewer dead people around here. Ban the guns is a noble endeavor, but banning the people who want to use guns to kill you is beyond the pale?
What a stupid time to be alive.
Other than that, I don’t have much. It’s a stupid end of a stupid week that’s mercifully concluded. So I’m off to tip back a few. Then probably a couple more. The music selection should be obvious – despite his many troubles, more likely because of them, Scott Weiland essentially wrote the soundtrack to my adolescence, one shared by a fairly large generation of people, and not just for his time with Stone Temple Pilots. Velvet Revolver was also damn good in its time as well. Rest in peace.
Have a bitchin’ weekend and get ‘em the Hell in.
