Rollin' Like Sisyphus

Good Music Friday

Posted in Good Music Friday by Huckleberry on June 2, 2017

Guess what day it is.
You’ll never guess it.
Not in a million fucking years.
Who am I kidding.
Of course you will.
So I’m reading the news this morning, scrolling through headlines (this is not the future I was promised), and I see that the full state Senate here in the land of sunshine and mayhem has voted to pass the single-payer health care bill – the one with the friendly sunshine cost estimate of $400 billion a year – without any provision on how it will be funded. Do keep in mind the entire state budget for the coming year is somewhere in the neighborhood of $120 billion, and the state takes in LESS than that every year in all revenue streams combined, with the highest taxes across the board for any state in the country.
It sounds insane.
It looks insane.
And you know what?
These motherfuckers are just crazy enough to do it, blatantly, without even pretending to care how it will be paid for.
Then, before the governor’s ink is even dry on the bill, hundreds of thousands of insurance workers in the state and millions nationwide lose their jobs, millions more workers in the state will flee the workforce both voluntarily and otherwise, and $400 billion a year suddenly turns into $1 trillion a year as the world’s derelicts and chronic disease incubators flood the state.
For all those who desperately wish to see California crumble to the sea, this should do it.
And I have to admit, I hope it happens, because it’ll be a sight to see.
In other news, the psychos with the agitprop megaphones spend nearly every minute of every day screaming about some insignificant something that Trump did, said, thought, suggested, or considered, so much so that I don’t hardly pay attention anymore. For all I know he shouted CONVFEFE while stabbing Gaia in the ovaries at the Eiffel Tower.
I know that doesn’t sound right, but that’s what I’ve gleaned.
Anyway, it’s early, I’ve got more work ahead of me than should be allowed by law, and I’m going to head out to the hammock instead with a fortified iced tea and a book on the history of the Crusades suggested to me by the Kurgan.
Onward, friends, to Oblivion!
Get ‘em in and have a great weekend.

The fiscal self-immolation of California should serve as a warning for the rest of the nation. But it won’t, of course.

Where would be the fun in that?
